Position Summary
The Manager of Customer Services plays a vital role within our beef division, supporting customers from first contact to final delivery. This position blends customer service, sales account management, and logistics coordination, ensuring that every client receives exceptional service and every order arrives in perfect condition. Based in Calgary and working remotely with face-to-face access to clients, this role requires strong communication, an analytical mindset, and a genuine interest in how cattle become food. The successful candidate will bring a small business mentality — someone who treats every customer like their own and every challenge as an opportunity. An entrepreneurial approach and prior experience managing or operating a business will be a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities
Sales and Account Management
Manage and grow a portfolio of key customers, including distributors, independent retailers, butchers, and chefs across Canada and Mexico.
Prospect and secure new accounts through targeted outreach, product presentations, and relationship-building.
Take ownership of assigned territories and customer relationships, driving growth through initiative and entrepreneurial thinking.
Prepare and deliver product information, pricing proposals, and sales presentations tailored to customer needs.
Track customer preferences, forecast orders, and ensure that inventory and production align with demand.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customer requirements, timelines, and product quality are consistently met.
Monitor account performance, identify opportunities for growth, and implement retention strategies.
Customer Service and Relationship Development
Serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries, service issues, and delivery coordination.
Build long-term relationships based on trust, reliability, and responsiveness. Collaborate with chefs, purchasing managers, and distributors to create tailored solutions that reflect customer needs.
Ensure post-sale follow-up, confirming satisfaction and resolving any quality or logistics concerns.
Logistics and Cold Chain Coordination
Oversee order fulfilment and transport scheduling to ensure products arrive with the correct shelf-life and temperature control.
Work directly with cold storage partners and carriers to maintain accurate documentation and efficient delivery.
Understand and apply just-in-time delivery principles to reduce waste and maintain product freshness.
Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to customers and internal teams.
Support export coordination for Mexico-bound shipments, ensuring customs compliance and product integrity.
Product Knowledge and Market Understanding
Develop an in-depth understanding of the beef industry, including cattle sourcing, carcass fabrication, and grading.
Learn how beef cuts are developed and used in different market segments — retail, foodservice, and export.
Assist customers with product education, usage ideas, and cut applications.
Keep current on market pricing, competitor activity, and seasonal industry trends.
Internal Coordination and Reporting
Maintain CRM records of sales activities, communications, and performance tracking. Prepare monthly reports, forecasts, and account summaries for management review.
Participate in production and sales planning meetings to align supply with customer orders.
Support internal communication between logistics, production, and sales departments to streamline operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or Agriculture (Bachelor’s in Transportation and Logistics preferred).
3–5 years of experience in food, meat, or protein sales, customer service, or logistics
coordination.
- Experience managing or operating a small business, or demonstrable entrepreneurial
background, is a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of cold chain logistics, shelf-life management, and just-in-time delivery
systems.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (required); other language skills are a strong asset.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present effectively to
both internal teams and customers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce,
Zoho, or Dynamics).
- Familiarity with the Canadian cattle and beef industry from production through
processing preferred.
