🤩 Hard to believe this was this horse’s very first time dragging a calf out of the branding pen. In the middle of all the chaos, he stayed calm and handled it like an old seasoned ranch horse.
A lot of that comes down to Craig’s horsemanship. Pretty impressive all around.

A uterine torsion = a twisted uterus that blocks the calf’s delivery. A rare event in early labour when the calve’s movement causes the uterus to flip on itself.

By rolling the cow a couple of times, we were able to untwist things and correct the torsion. The crew’s body weight on the plank, helped the uterus stay in place while the cow was rolled allowing things to untwist.
